GENEVA — A total of 146 Jews were allowed to emigrate from the Soviet Union in February, the third straight monthly increase, the agency helping in their resettlement said Friday.
Regina Boucault, spokeswoman of the Intergovernmental Committee for Migration, said that 29 of the emigres chose to settle in Israel while the rest were headed for other countries.
In January, 98 Jews were allowed to leave the Soviet Union for a transit camp in Vienna. In December, only 77 arrived at the Vienna camp.
