Council Videotapes to Be Kept 2 Years
REDONDO BEACH — The City Council has unanimously decided to keep videotapes of council meetings available for two years for public review.
The action came after City Atty. Gordon C. Phillips determined that videotapes are considered duplicate public records that by law must be retained for at least 90 days. Previously, the tapes were reused at the following meeting.
The council established the two-year period to be consistent with the amount of time that audio cassette tapes of council meetings are retained.
Other administrative questions, such as where and how videotapes will be made available for public viewing, will be discussed at the council’s March 17 meeting.
