Prostitution’s Harmful Effects
Congratulations to Mayor Sal Sapien of Stanton.
During our Board of Trustees meeting Feb. 23, we reviewed (The Times’) picture of you protesting prostitution on Beach Boulevard (Feb. 22).
Sapien and Councilman Edward Allen received sincere applause and comments of “well-done” for their efforts to make the community aware of the Beach Boulevard problems.
Few people understand the total negative impact that prostitution has on a community. Hollywood Boulevard (in Los Angeles) is a case in point.
The Magnolia School District has the responsibility of educating more than 4,300 students. The Board of Trustees has a mandate to see that students are taught the harmful effects of alcohol, drugs and tobacco, and further to see that manners and high principles of morality are represented in the best possible light.
We are a community of families. The perversion of street prostitutes that is blatantly exhibited before our students is an abhorrence that should not be condoned nor tolerated.
