Italian Men, French Women Rated Tops

PARIS —  Europeans think Italian men and French women are the most seductive in the world, but Americans mostly have eyes for other Americans, according to poll results published Saturday.

A survey published in Madame Figaro magazine shows that Europeans rank Italian, French and Spanish men, in that order, as the world’s best seducers and French, then Italian, then Swedish women as the most seductive.

The survey of France, Belgium, West Germany, Italy, Norway, Belgium and the United States was carried out by TMO Consultants in the summer of 1986, the magazine said.

Of the 5,911 European men and women polled, 35% consider Italian men the best seducers, followed by 28% for French men.

French women were rated the most seductive by 31% of the Europeans polled, followed by 28% for Italian women. The Europeans ranked Americans sixth.

But of the 993 Americans polled, 59% found American women the most tempting, followed by 30% who favored Swedish women and 21% for French women.

Of the Americans polled, 57% thought American men were the most seductive. Italian men polled 25% and French men 19%.
