Redondo Beach : Council OKs Park Cleanup
In an attempt to settle a recent campaign issue, Councilwoman Marcia Martin won City Council approval to clear debris and weeds from the north end of Dominguez Park bordering 190th Street and have the area planted with grass and irrigated.
City Manager Timothy Casey said attempts to obtain state grants of about $100,000 to improve the area have been unsuccessful.
Allocation of city funds and final approval may not be back before the council for months since the configuration of the planted area may first be reviewed by the city Parks and Recreation Commission.
Martin said she was disturbed by allegations during her reelection campaign that she had failed to have the debris cleared.
