HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS : OTHER SPORTS : Mancebo No-Hits Windward, 22-3

K.C. Mancebo pitched her first career no-hitter Friday afternoon as Montclair Prep beat Windward, 22-3, in a nonleague game at Windward.

Mancebo struck out six and walked five. She was also 3 for 5 with a double and a triple. Windward (2-4) scored one run on a fielder’s choice and two more on a throwing error.

Jodi Schenkman was 3 for 4 with 4 runs batted in for Montclair Prep (3-3).

SOFTBALL

Laura Kinney went 4 for 4 and had two RBIs as Highland Hall (1-4) snapped its 16-game losing streak with a 16-7 win over West Valley Christian in a game called after five innings because of darkness. Highland Hall pitcher Jaime Trudeau had three hits, including a double and triple. . . . Christy Teffeteller was 4 for 4 with 4 stolen bases as Simi Lutheran (3-2) defeated Villanova Prep, 9-4, in a nonleague game at Simi Lutheran. Donna Schultze pitched six innings and gave up only one earned run to pick up the win. Schultze was also 2 for 4 with a double. Kory Kozub hit a solo home run for Simi Lutheran.

SWIMMING

Fred Brende won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.44 and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.3 to lead Harvard (1-1 overall, 1-0) to a 122-25 win over Santa Clara in a Frontier League meet. . . . Notre Dame’s Kurt Marsden won both the 50 (23.9) and the 100 (53.0) freestyle in Notre Dame’s 42-36 Del Rey League dual meet victory over Mater Dei. Danny Ryan won the 200 individual medley (2:19.9) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.9) for Notre Dame. In a San Fernando Valley League girls dual meet, Mater Dei beat Notre Dame, 46-32. Notre Dame’s Christy Parker won the 50 (25.9) and the 100 (58.1) freestyle events. Teammate Lorraine Myers won the 200 individual medley (2:27) and the 100 butterfly (1:05.3).

VOLLEYBALL

Sophomore Ken Lynch had 27 kills and eight blocks as Crespi overcame a 12-3 fifth-set deficit to pull out a 12-15, 15-11, 14-16, 15-9, 18-16 nonleague volleyball victory at Notre Dame. Chris Faucher added 14 kills for Crespi (4-2).

“I was going nuts in the fifth set,” Crespi Coach Kevin Slattum said. “Things didn’t look good when we were down 12-3, but our kids showed a lot of guts. Even worse when we were up, 14-12, and they scored three points to almost win it. We could have let up but we didn’t.”
