Lawyers for John Demjanjuk, the retired U.S. auto worker accused of being the Nazi death camp guard known as “Ivan the Terrible,” say they will ask Israel’s Supreme Court today to remove the judges hearing their client’s war crimes trial because they are biased. The lawyers said the three-judge panel in the trial has demonstrated “deep-seated hostility” toward the defense team and its case. Many times during the trial, the judges have reprimanded, interrupted and overruled defense lawyers.
