The World : 2 Koreas Agree to Talks

North Korea agreed to a South Korean proposal for talks between the two countries’ prime ministers and suggested a preparatory meeting April 23. North Korean Premier Li Gun Mo made the response in a letter to his southern counterpart, Lho Shin Yong, the North Korean Central News Agency, monitored in Tokyo, reported. Li suggested holding the first round of preparatory talks at Tongil Pavilion, on the northern side of the border village of Panmunjom. Lho had suggested the meeting in a March 17 letter that also proposed resumption of Red Cross talks aimed at reuniting about 10 million Koreans separated from their families in the 1950-53 Korean War.
