BEIJING — Shanghai police arrested 17 people for smuggling and peddling pornographic videotapes, a newspaper reported.
The arrests were labeled by the Huangpu Public Security Bureau in Shanghai as a “rare” case of smuggling, peddling, copying and showing pornographic videotapes, the Shanghai Evening News said Monday.
“The case was very widespread and caused a great deal of damage,” the newspaper said, adding that an investigation by the Shanghai Recording and Video Administration “proved that the videotapes were extremely obscene.”
