Kickers Move Into 1st With Win Over San Jose
Midfielder Richie Torres led the California Kickers to a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday before a crowd of 1,289 at San Jose’s Spartan Stadium. Torres scored the winning goal with 15 minutes remaining. In the first half, he contributed the assist on his team’s first score of the day.
The win broke a tie for the top spot in the Western Soccer Alliance. California (3-1) now has 17 points. San Jose (2-1) has 13. Three points are awarded for a win and one for each goal up to a maximum of three per game.
