Small Quake Hits Off Oceanside
A small earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale was recorded Thursday night in the ocean 25 miles southwest of Oceanside. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
The 7:23 p.m. temblor was centered on the same fault line where a 5.5-magnitude quake struck in July and was probably another in a long line of aftershocks, California Institute of Technology spokesman Robert Finn said. The July quake was the largest ever recorded off the San Diego County coast.
San Diego and Oceanside police said they received no phone calls about Thursday’s quake.
