Stereotypes, Symbols and the Star of David

So David Lehrer of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith doesn’t like Conrad “misusing the symbol of the Jewish religion.”

Last time I looked, the flag of the State of Israel bears a large Star of David. Thus, if cartoons ridiculing the State of Israel happen to misinterpreted as ridicule of the Jewish faith, then the Zionists have only themselves to blame for designing the flag that way in the first place. As a Zionist, and a friend of Israel, Lehrer should be spending his time trying to get their flag revamped.

Ironically, of course, the Star of David has in any case very little historic connection to biblical Judaism. It is of medieval origin, and was originally a thank you gift from a European king to the Jews of Prague.
