Bell : Broader Sales of Fireworks
The Bell City Council is expected to take final action Monday on an ordinance broadening the definition of agencies that may apply to sell fireworks during July, City Administrator Bryan Woosley said.
However, the deadline for applying for permits to sell fireworks in July is April 30, and Woosley said interested agencies should apply before that date even though the ordinance is not final. The new definition includes civic groups and service clubs which sell fireworks as fund-raising efforts. Any changes to the new ordinance are expected to be minor, he said, and will not affect the eligible agencies.
The new ordinance will limit the number of fireworks stands in the city to one for each 4,000 people, Woosley said. This will raise the total number of fireworks stands from the four or five of past years to about eight, he said.
