Rex McGee is right to be outraged that screenwriter Wendell Mayes wasn’t mentioned in Jack Mathews’ article about the film “Go Tell the Spartans” (Saturday Letters, April 11).

But McGee is also guilty of a sin of omission when he says Mayes optioned “the book from which the film is taken,” without identifying that book or its author.

This information is still missing. Is it a state secret? Inquiring minds want to know.

“Go Tell the Spartans” was based on Daniel Ford’s “The Incident at Muc Wa.”
