A record $850,000 was paid for an NYSE seat.
The buyer and seller of the seat were not disclosed. Since the last seat was sold Jan. 28, the price has jumped $225,000. Seats are now being bid by buyers at $750,000 and offered by sellers at $1 million, also a record high. The price of a seat on the exchange has escalated dramatically since the beginning of the bull market in 1982, when the highest price paid for seat was $340,000, exchange officials said.
