Brooks Is Said to Get Job Offer
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota North Stars offered their NHL head-coaching position to Herb Brooks, the former U.S. Olympic hockey coach who coached at St. Cloud State last year, according to reports Tuesday.
Brooks met for three hours with Stars’ owners George and Gordon Gund and General Manager Lou Nanne in New York and both sides put their contract proposals on the table, KSTP-TV reported. No agreement was reached, the station said.
Brooks is asking for a one-year contract that includes a percentage of the attendance receipts, while the team wants a two-year deal and a flat bonus for a division title, KSTP said.
