Former security guard David Allen Raley, 25, was convicted of first-degree murder in the Feb. 2, 1985, death of Jeanine Grinsell and of special circumstance allegations that could qualify him for the death penalty. The Santa Clara County jury also found Raley guilty of charges involving torture and attempted murder of a second girl who survived the ordeal, Laurie McKenna, 17. Raley stabbed the two girls dozens of times at a vacant mansion in Hillsborough, then locked them in the truck of his car and went home to play Monopoly with his family. Raley later dumped the girls in a ravine. McKenna pulled herself out the next morning and flagged down a passing car.
