Council’s Action on Crosswalks Hit
In its recent action on marked crosswalks, the Long Beach City Council has once again established its freedom to rely on unqualified opinion and incompetent instinct regardless of factual evidence. When so-called “common sense” is at odds with facts, the council prefers to ignore the facts!
Now that the proven dangerous condition of marking uncontrolled crosswalks can only be corrected by the council on a case-by-case basis, are Messrs. (Warren) Harwood, (Ray) Grabinski and (Wallace) Edgerton ready to set the standards? In other words, how many injured or killed persons will it take to justify removal?
