San Diego College Baseball : USIU Takes 2 From Sacramento State
United States International University swept a nonconference baseball doubleheader from Sacramento State Sunday behind strong pitching and power hitting.
The Gulls (28-21-1) ended their 1987 home season with 8-0 and 7-1 victories over Sacramento State (32-21).
In the first game, Noel Bishop (7-3) pitched a two-hitter. Steve Hendrix hit a three-run home run in a five-run third inning.
In the second game, Opie Moran had a two-run home run and John Ronis added a three-run homer to lead the Gulls. Wally Trice (7-3) pitched five innings for the victory.
Hawaii 13, San Diego State 6--Hawaii completed a four-game Western Athletic Conference sweep of the Aztecs at Honolulu. Bob Parry was 3 for 4 with one RBI and two doubles and Chuck McInnis had a bases-empty home run to lead the Aztecs (8-8, 28-24-1). Hawaii (15-1, 35-16) is in first place in the WAC’s Western Division.
