Jared Snyder was 3 for 4 with a home run and 5 RBIs and Brian Stothers was 3 for 5 as Saugus (13-5, 8-2 in league) took a 9-3, Golden League decision from Antelope Valley (5-7-1, 3-7).. . . . Adam Schulhofer threw a two-hitter and recorded 11 strikeouts as Canoga Park (10-3, 6-3) defeated Reseda, 5-1, in a West Valley League game. Schulhofer (6-1) had a no-hitter through five innings, but Arnie Tejeda tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly for Reseda. . . . Chatsworth had 13 hits and benefited from 15 walks and 7 errors in a 15-4, West Valley League win over Cleveland (3-6). Chatsworth (8-1) was led by Rex McMackin, who was 3 for 4 with 3 runs batted in, and Joel Wolfe, who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs.

Alan Sedacca (3-1) threw a two-hitter and struck out eight to lead Birmingham (8-5, 6-3) to a 4-2 Mid-Valley League victory over Van Nuys (4-10, 1-8). Matt Clancy singled to break up Sedacca’s no-hit bid with one out in the fifth. . . . V.P. Pajcin drove in three runs and Donald Williams scored three times as Kennedy beat Monroe, 14-5, in a Mid-Valley League game. Pajcin had two doubles and two singles and Williams collected three hits for Kennedy (6-3).

Kent Lowry singled home Sean Brown with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give Granada Hills (7-6, 5-4) a 5-4, Mid-Valley League win over San Fernando. Steve Kovacic was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, and Brown was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

John Kukawski hit a three-run home run in the first and a solo shot in the fifth to lead Grant past Fairfax, 5-4, in an East Valley League game. Jim Mattman and Juan Doroteo each had two hits for Grant (6-11, 5-7). Glen Rothstein had a no-hitter through five innings. . . . Danny Spector was 3 for 4 with a double and 5 RBIs to lead North Hollywood (7-8, 7-5) to a 10-5, East Valley League upset of Sylmar (9-3).

Murphy capitalized on four Crespi errors in each game of a nonleague doubleheader to sweep the Celts, 4-3 and 4-1. Joe Testa had a double and Greg Barton had a triple for Crespi (14-5-1) in the first game. . . . Scott Bush gave up four runs and six hits as Rio Mesa (10-8-1, 4-5) defeated Oxnard, 10-6, in a Channel League game.

Jeff Cirillo threw a no-hitter and struck out 12 as Providence defeated Brentwood, 8-0, in a Delphic League game at Brentwood. Adam Grant was 3 for 4 and drove in three runs for Providence (14-6-1, 4-1). . . . Scott Hauser won his sixth consecutive game as Montclair Prep (15-4, 8-1) beat L.A. Baptist, 8-3, in an Alpha League game.

Burroughs (8-10, 3-7) committed three errors in the fourth and fifth innings to help Alhambra (8-2) to a 5-0, Foothill League victory. . . . Agoura (5-9) sent 20 batters to the plate in the sixth inning, scoring 15 runs, and went on to a 19-5, nonleague win over Newbury Park. Sean McKenna was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs and Scott Heflin was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and 4 RBIs for Agoura.

SOFTBALL

Lisa Rood of North Hollywood (3-2) had her team’s only hit, a triple, as the Huskies took advantage of 15 walks in a 10-6 East Valley League victory over Poly. . . . Debby Day threw a three-hitter and struck 11, and Burbank scored three runs in the first en route to a 6-2, Foothill League win over Burroughs (14-2, 4-1). Christy Calderon had three hits and three RBIs as Burbank (14-2, 4-1) moved into a tie for first with Burroughs and Hart. . . . Krissy Lietz was 2 for 3 and Debbie Rendall and Kristen Paris each hit solo home runs as Hart (15-5, 4-1) moved into a first-place tie in the Foothill League with an 11-1 win over Schurr. Kim Weil (11-5) earned the win. . . . Newbury Park (18-4, 9-0) continued to dominate the Marmonte League with a 10-0 victory over Westlake (4-5). Freshman Melodie Bolger, making her first start at catcher, was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
