Citing strong sales of its top-of-the-line business computer systems and increased revenue from its service division, Tustin-based MAI Basic Four Inc. reported fiscal 1987 second quarter profits of $5.4 million, up 32% from the $4.1 million recorded last year. Revenues for the period ended March 31 were $78.1 million, up 10% from the $70.8 million received last year.

For the first six months, profits were $10 million, up 35% from the $7.4 million recorded last year. Sales were $150 million, a 10% increase from the $136 million posted last year.

William B. Patton Jr., MAI Basic Four’s president and chief executive, said orders for the first half of the year increased substantially from the prior year and credited the company’s marketing program and popularity of its high-end super mini-computers for the growth. He said orders were especially strong in Europe.
