Three men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles for allegedly manufacturing and distributing about 1,200 bottles of counterfeit Naprosyn, a widely prescribed drug used in treating rheumatoid arthritis and tendinitis. The indictment against Javid Naghdi, an Iranian; Shapour Shahabi of Los Angeles, and Sourin Boudaghians of Glendale, alleges that the three men sold more than 1,100 bottles of a drug labeled as Naprosyn but which contained mostly aspirin and acetaminophen. Each defendant faces a maximum of 51 years in prison if convicted.
