Scripps Hospital Breaks Ground on Major Expansion

Scripps Memorial Hospital-Encinitas has broken ground on a $17.7-million rehabilitation that will include a rehabilitaton facility and increase the number of beds from 93 to 150.

The 99,000-square-foot expansion is the first stage of a planned two-stage effort. Construction on the first phase is expected to begin in September, with completion scheduled for February, 1989.

The architect is Brown Leary of San Diego, and the master site plan developer is Perkins & Wills Inc. of Chicago. The contractor will be selected in August.
