Songwriter Narada Michael Walden and his tune “How Will I Know,” the most-performed pop music song of 1986, won top awards Tuesday night from the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers. Other songs winning special recognition at the annual Pop Awards dinner zat the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills were “Part-Time Lover,” “Say You, Say Me,” “That’s What Friends Are For” and “You Belong to the City.” ASCAP licenses the public performance of member’s compositions and collects license fees from music users, distributing royalty payments to songwriters and publishers.
