United Leisure Corp. Reports Quarter’s Loss
Irvine-based United Leisure Corp., formerly Lion Country Safari, reported a net loss of $139,178 for the first quarter, compared with a year-earlier loss of $252,521.
Revenues for the period ended March 31 were $203,808, a dramatic increase from $85,801 a year earlier.
Harry Shuster, president and chairman, attributed the loss to the company being a seasonal business, with the first and fourth quarters historically the weakest of the year.
Shuster said he hopes that the company--which moved the wild animals out of its money-losing safari park 2 1/2 years ago in favor of sub-leasing the land to a water-theme amusement park--will be profitable in the second and third quarters.
