A Senior Tour Caddie Killed; Another Jailed
OKLAHOMA CITY — The caddie for PGA Senior Tour golfer Dale Douglass was shot to death in a domestic dispute early Saturday morning at a motel here.
Oklahoma City police Detective Sugar Smith said Walter J. (John) Gerski of Akron, Ohio, was shot and killed about 2 a.m. at the Red Carpet Inn.
Smith said another caddie, Joe Willie Bent, 39, of Dallas, was being held in the Oklahoma City jail. Bent turned himself in to police, surrendering a gun, Smith said.
Cary Sully, vice chairman of the Silver Pages Classic golf tournament, said Bent is the caddie for Jim Barber.
Douglass and Barber are both competing in the Silver Pages tournament at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club.
