Anke Behmer of East Germany had a 1987 world best in the heptathlon and Siegfried Wentz of West Germany had a season best in the decathlon in an international track and field meet at Goetzis, Austria.
Behmer had 6,692 points to win the heptathlon, while co-favorite Jane Frederick of the United States dropped out with a thigh injury. Wentz collected 8,645 points, beating East German Torsten Voss, who had 8,331.
