San Diego Section Team Tennis : Top Teams Advance to Quarterfinals

There were no surprises in the first round of the San Diego Section boys’ 2-A and 3-A team tennis tournament as the seeded advanced to today’s quarterfinals.

In 3-A, Mira Mesa defeated Hilltop, 6-1, and will play at top-seeded Vista; Patrick Henry defeated Bonita Vista, 6-1, and will play at second-seeded San Dieguito; Valhalla swept Point Loma, 7-0, and will play at No. 3 Mount Carmel; and Poway beat Helix, 5-2, and will play at No. 4 Torrey Pines.

In 2-A, University defeated the Army-Navy Academy, 5-2, and will face top-seeded La Jolla, which has won 19 San Diego Section titles including 15 in a row from 1970 to 1984.

In other 2-A matches: San Pasqual defeated University City, 5-2, and will play at No. 2 Coronado; The Bishop’s School defeated Crawford, 5-1, and will play at third-seeded St. Augustine, and Carlsbad beat Castle Park, 7-0, and will play at No. 4 San Marcos.
