Le L’Argent Scores Victory in Stretch at Hollywood Park
Le L’Argent, ridden by Darrel McHargue, took the lead in the stretch and drove hard to the finish, winning by 1 3/4 lengths in the $82,400 A Gleam Handicap for fillies and mares Saturday at Hollywood Park.
Sari’s Heroine, with Eddie Delahoussaye aboard, finished second, 3 1/2 lengths in front of Rare Starlet, ridden by Alex Solis. Rare Starlet and Sari’s Heroine were coupled entries. Rare Starlet led the pack but weakened in the stretch.
Le L’Argent covered seven furlongs in 1 minute 23 seconds and earned $48,650 for the victory. The winner paid $22.40, $10.40 and $12.40. Sari’s Heroine and Rare Starlet paid $6.20 and $7.
