27 Accused of Smuggling Aliens
Twenty-seven people, including 21 Wells Fargo employees at Kennedy International Airport, were charged today with smuggling more than 70 illegal aliens into the country in return for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Wells Fargo employees were supposed to guard aliens accused of entering the country illegally until they could be deported, according to the complaint. Instead, it alleged, they used several techniques to allow the aliens to stay, including fabricating escape reports and using impostors in the place of the aliens on return flights.
