Negotiators for the NBA and the Players Assn. announced that no new player contracts would be signed after next Wednesday if a new labor contract has not been reached by then.

The announcement by NBA Commissioner David Stern and players’ union counsel Lawrence Fleisher was made during a break in a five-hour negotiating session between representatives of the league and the players.
