As the leadoff hitter for the 2-A champion Cougars, Adams, a right fielder, hit .470 (40 for 85) with 9 homers, 2 triples, 3 doubles, 25 RBIs and 28 runs. He also was a sprinter on the Capistrano Valley track team and won South Coast League championships in 100- and 200-meter events.

Boone, who started for three seasons, moved from second base to shortstop this season and hit .500 (45 for 90) with 10 homers, 31 RBIs and 35 runs. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins last week but signed a letter of intent Tuesday to attend USC.

DENNIS BURBANK

Burbank was 12-3 with a 1.86 ERA for the Orange League champions. He struck out 120 and walked only 36 in 105 innings. He threw a no-hitter against Savanna in the last game of the regular season. Drafted by the Minnesota Twins last week, he has not decided whether to try the pros or college.

Hit .468 (36 for 77) with 4 homers, 7 doubles, 25 RBIs and 27 runs to help the Seahawks win the Sunset League championship. He has signed a letter of intent with San Diego State but is considering a professional offer from the Oakland A’s, who drafted him last week.

He was 9-1 with a 1.88 ERA for the Friars, who finished second in the Angelus League. He struck out 71 and walked 46 in 74 innings, was named league co-MVP with J.R. Phillips of Bishop Amat and has signed a letter of intent with the University of San Diego.

He played both pitcher and shortstop, setting school records for wins (11) and strikeouts (105), and hitting .352 (31 for 88) with 30 runs. He was drafted in the 16th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates but is leaning toward UCLA, where he has signed a letter of intent.

JOHN HEFLER

He hit .400 (38 for 95) with 8 homers, 8 doubles, 30 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and 28 runs. Hefler was the starting third baseman his sophomore year, then switched to center field for the past two seasons. He had a .420 career average and set a school record for career hits with 112.

He led Orange County during the regular season in home runs (9) and RBIs (36) while hitting .341 (28 for 82) with 22 runs. He has signed a letter of intent with USC but is considering a professional offer from the California Angels, who drafted him in the second round.

The center fielder hit .427 (35 for 82) with 2 homers, 3 triples, 6 doubles, 12 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and 28 runs for the Roadrunners, champions of the Sea View League. He was a first-team defensive back on The Times’ all-county football team.

Robertson, a switch-hitter, moved from right field to first base this season and hit .337 (28 for 83) with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and 27 runs. He also tied for the Orange County lead in doubles with 12. He is one of only two juniors who made the first team.

He was 14-2 with a 1.73 ERA to lead the Warriors to the 3-A championship, struck out 130 and walked only 35 in 109 innings and set school records for wins and strikeouts. He also hit .418 (46 for 110) with 3 homers, 7 doubles and 33 RBIs and will attend Cal State Fullerton next fall.

He hit .440 (40 for 91) with 6 home runs, 5 triples, 9 doubles, and 26 RBIs to lead the Lions to a second-place finish in the Sunset League. He made only five errors at shortstop and will choose between UC Irvine and Cal State Long Beach.

He went 12-1 to tie a school record for victories and help the Cougars win the 2-A championship and had an ERA of 1.15 and struck out 88 in 97 innings. He also hit .352 (31 for 88) with 1 homer and 16 RBIs and will attend either Orange Coast, Saddleback or Rancho Santiago College next fall.
