Tell Dodgers a Team That Stays Together Plays Better Together

It has been demonstrated in sports history that the key to success is teamwork. For a team to succeed in any sport, it must work together in unity. The Dodgers seem to be doing their best to disprove this theory. In the past, the Dodgers have prided themselves on developing a winning team through their farm system, and in the past, this has worked. This formula has worked because they have been willing to stick with the players through the lean times in order to achieve the cohesiveness of a team.

Over the last couple of years the Dodgers have been everything but a team. The Dodger infield for 10 years was: Cey, Garvey, Lopes and Russell. And that was as solid a defensive unit as there ever was. Now it’s: Hatcher, Woodson, Stubbs, Sax, Anderson, Duncan, Bryant, Hamilton, Matuszek (Madlock). In the outfield it’s even worse. No wonder the team leads the league in errors. Without consistent playing time, how can these players develop the cohesiveness of a championship team? Until Tommy Lasorda chooses a lineup, and sticks with it, I’m afraid the Dodgers are going to remain a mediocre team.
