Principal photography was completed on Steven Spielberg’s “Empire of the Sun” on Thursday in Trebujena, Spain, five days ahead of schedule. The story of a young boy in Japanese-occupied Shanghai is Spielberg’s first directorial effort since “The Color Purple.” Warner Bros. will release it in December.
