Torrance : Repair of Library Leak OKd
The City Council voted unanimously to spend $108,000 to fix the leaking roof of the Civic Center library.
Since the library opened in 1971, water has leaked into the insulation material under the roof. The insulation now is very wet and water drips in parts of the library, according to Bill K. White, director of general services.
White, who added that the condition--though a nuisance--is not dangerous, said the work may be performed during the summmer.
Most of the money, $83,520, will come from federal revenue-sharing capital improvement funds that the city received in the 1982-83 fiscal year. The remainder, $24,480, will be paid out of the 1986-87 general services operating budget.
The Bryant Organization of Carson, which put in the low bid, was awarded the job.
