Local News in Brief : Litton’s Moorpark Unit to Begin Layoffs
Layoffs will be announced sometime within a month at Litton Aero Products’ Moorpark operation, said Leon Webrand, vice president of administration. There are 650 employees at the Moorpark operation, which produces commercial navigation systems for aircraft and ships. Asked if the layoffs would amount to 20% of the work force, Webrand said, “I don’t believe it will be that significant.” Another Litton spokesman attributed the layoffs to intense competition within the industry and a desire to cut costs.
