Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn returned to his office for the first time since suffering a stroke in January and announced he had hired his brother for a top staff job. Hahn, 66, a member of the Board of Supervisors since 1952, spent about two hours at his office Thursday. In a statement, he announced that Gordon R. Hahn, a former assemblyman and Los Angeles City Council member, would fill the staff void created by former chief deputy Harry Marlow and former aide Nate Holden. Marlow recently retired and Holden won election to the City Council last month. Kenneth Hahn collapsed Jan. 11 just before he was to deliver a speech to a community group. He was diagnosed as having suffered a stroke and remained hospitalized for three months.
