She Gathers the Stars for Charity Galas

All the starry people, where do they all come from?

The celebrities who zip down from Tinseltown to lend their aura to Orange County charity events usually arrive via a wave of the wand by Jeanne De Vivier Brown, owner of Star Trackers in Sherman Oaks.

Brown got that dreamy bulk--the Incredible Hulk (Louis Ferrigno)--to brunch and samba at Hotel Meridien on behalf of Cerebral Palsy last year. She also got Bob Seagren involved in Cerebral Palsy’s annual eight-kilometer run, happening at Hotel Meridien this weekend.

Why makes a star switch galaxies for a day or two? “For the most part, celebrities are just dears about helping out at these (charity) things,” says Brown, a talent coordinator.

“Very seldom do they charge, unless they have to travel a great length. And, they enjoy the perks. Sometimes they’re put up for the night in a nice hotel and get their meals free. And the media coverage is nice, of course.”

Brown says she charges charity groups up to $1,000 to get “six or more celebrities,” and for fewer, as little as $100 per star.

Problem is, they don’t always come through. “Once, I booked six and five fell out at the last minute,” Brown says. “One got bit by a dog. So, I had to try and book five more!”
