Trio Plead Guilty in Racketeering Case
A former record promoter and clothing tycoon pleaded guilty Tuesday to hiring two alleged mobsters to rough up two former business partners in a buyout deal.
Mark Kreiner, a former executive with a pop music production firm and president of a Venice-based clothing company, pleaded guilty to interstate travel in aid of racketeering in connection with a buyout offer on his recording company, Highrise Entertainment Corp.
Also entering guilty pleas were the two men Kreiner hired to threaten and assault his former partners.
Joseph Mangiapani, a co-trainer for bantamweight boxer Mike (The Bounty) Hunter, and Clyde Tracy of San Diego pleaded guilty to extortion and racketeering charges.
Both men have been identified by federal law enforcement officials as associates of the Los Angeles Mafia family.
U.S. District Judge A. Andrew Hauk set sentencing for the two men on Aug. 25 and scheduled Kreiner’s sentencing for Sept. 21.
