Timothy Dalton, the latest-edition James Bond, won undisclosed libel damages in London’s high court Monday for a newspaper story that wrongly alleged he was fired from the film role of Agent 007. Dalton said he plans to donate the damages received from the News of the World to the National Youth Theater. Barrister Adrian Parkhouse, representing the News of the World’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, expressed regret for the article published in March, 1986, under the headline “Hello and Goodbye Time, 007.” The newspaper also agreed to pay Dalton’s legal costs. The sum was not disclosed.
