A Del Mar man died when the 43-foot fishing boat Binki sank suddenly off Admiralty Island near Juneau, Alaska, the Coast Guard reported. Lee Welch, 25, was not wearing a survival suit and was the only member of the six-man crew who was not rescued, a Coast Guard spokesman said. The boat went down so fast that there was no time to radio for help. The survivors, picked out of the water by other fishing vessels more than 10 hours later, were identified as Joseph Gambucci, 27, of San Luis Obispo; Michael Fox, 24, of Arcata; Brett Miller, 23, of Oxnard; David Linstrom, 26, of San Diego, and Charles Kangas, 23, of Wrangell, Alaska.
