A 6-year-old El Monte girl who was fatally wounded while she and her brother were playing with their parents’ pistol was identified by authorities as Jennifer Olivera. Police Lt. Ken Jeske said the child was shot once in the head by her brother in the family’s apartment and died at a hospital a short time later. The two children had found the .22-caliber pistol, which was kept in a case on a closet shelf, and were playing with it when it went off, Jeske said. The children’s mother was in another room at the time.
