U.S. semiconductor business continued strong in July, despite expectations for a slowdown, as usually experienced by the industry during the summer. At $806.3 million, U.S. market billings (shipments) during the four weeks of July were down 14.1% from the $938.6 million (revised) in June, a quarter-ending, five-week month. With only 19 business days in July and 24 in June, however, billings actually increased 8.5% in July, when figured on an average daily basis.
