Three men who admitted taking part in a scheme to sell plans for the cluster bomb to Saudi Arabia and Iraq were sentenced to prison terms. U.S. District Judge Pamela Ann Rymer, who accepted their pleas of guilty to two counts each of violating federal munitions export laws, sentenced Richard Schroeder, 56, of Diamond Bar, to 10 years in a federal penitentiary; Anthony Cenci, 61, of Costa Mesa to eight years, and Richard Nortman, 60, of West Los Angeles, who was said to have played a less prominent role in the scheme, to two years plus 600 hours of community service. Rymer said she agreed with prosecutors that the sentences should send a message to others within the defense industry to think carefully before trying to sell sensitive defense technology.
