“Hysteria,” Def Leppard’s first album since 1983’s multi-platinum “Pyromania,” debuted on the Billboard magazine pop chart at No. 36 this week. It should be in the Top 10 in the next week or two. Another fast-rising new album is the Hooters’ “One Way Home”--up to No. 29 after three weeks on the chart. “T’Pau,” the album by the group T’Pau, moved up to No. 33. Thanks to its hit single (“Heart and Soul,” now at No. 9), the LP is finally starting to sell big. The “La Bamba” sound track jumped nine notches to No. 8. In just its third week on the chart, Michael Jackson’s “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” single moved from No. 16 to No. 10. Likely future Top 10 pop singles: Dan Hill’s “Can’t We Try” (No. 12), Whitney Houston’s “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” (No. 16) and John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Paper in Fire” (No. 45).

* The sound-track album--from Madonna’s new movie, sinking fast in the movie theaters--is the hottest new album on the chart, jumping to No. 13 in just two weeks. Her single (the album’s title track, the movie’s curtain-raiser) just went to No. 1 on the pop singles chart.
