It may strike anyone who saw him blast Soviet-built planes out of the sky in “Top Gun” as a bit incongruous, but Tom Cruise did his bit for cinematic glasnost Wednesday. In Moscow on a private visit to the U.S.S.R., Cruise paid a visit the U.S. Embassy to talk with diplomats about the prospects for a joint U.S.-Soviet film project (and signed a few autographs too). The star of “Top Gun” and “The Color of Money” is in Russia this week and has been meeting with members of the Union of Soviet Cinematographers, an embassy spokesperson said.
