Farrakhan Due in L.A. Sept. 28
Black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan will be speaking at the Los Angeles Convention Center Sept. 28, an aide announced today.
The decision was reached Saturday after supporters collected more than 50,000 signatures of Los Angeles citizens who said they wanted to hear the controversial Nation of Islam leader, Abdul Allah Muhammad said. Muhammad had announced last month that Farrakhan’s speech, originally scheduled for Aug. 8, had been postponed because local officials had denounced the visit. Supporters said they wanted to gather signatures to see if there was enough support among blacks for the minister, who has been criticized for making anti-Semitic remarks.
