High-Stakes Dog Fights Raided by Texas Rangers

DALLAS — Texas Rangers and other law enforcement officers broke up a scheduled card of high-stakes fights between pit bull terriers and arrested 56 people, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Prizes for the owners of the winning dogs started at $2,500 and led to a purse of $10,000 for the final fight Saturday night, officials said.
