The ITC upheld a claim by Texas Instruments Inc. that its patents on semiconductor memory devices, called DRAMS, had been violated by nine Japanese and Korean companies. Although the International Trade Commission ordered the halt of unlicensed imports and sales by the offending companies, the effect of the ruling will be negligible since all but one company had already reached a settlement with TI. The remaining company, Samsung, is negotiating an agreement.
