Bodies of two men who drowned after a pickup truck plunged into the Sacramento River from a drawbridge that was opened without warning were recovered. Authorities said James Shaughnessy, 36, of Sacramento, whose body was recovered Tuesday, was a passenger in a truck driven by Pati Fink, 51, that went into the water when the bridge was opened last Saturday. Fink’s body was found in the cab of the truck. But a third victim--a man who jumped into the river and was drowned in a futile rescue attempt--remained unidentified. Police said Caltrans bridge operator Michael Souza, 38, had a blood-alcohol level of .18%--almost twice the legal limit--when he operated the bridge on manual override, failing to set off warning devices. He has been fired.
